career undergrowth
Last night some teammates and moi were discussing some career movements within the company. (Additional space has been leased from the mall to add more seats and clients of course and rumor has it will be functional/operational by June.)
The new client is a PC manufacturer and there are more (higher!) positions currently available than in our own account. And rumors of higher base pay also abound. But it will be no picnic troubleshooting computers itself especially compared to troubleshooting dsl internet connection. What I'm really aiming for is a position where I don't have to take in calls, but I don't know if I'm already qualified for that in the eyes of the company. And what's annoying is that though several flyers and ads are circulating in the office, not one details the qualifications.
And a week ago there was news that the ISP we support is opening/has opened its own call center here in manila w/higher pay--as much as twice of what we're getting right now supposedly. (I guess higher pay will always part of any rumor like this.)
So I guess I try out the available options.
I haven't posted anything for almost a month and here I am talking about work. But the 3rd decade is coming up and only that can make you take a step back and look at yourself, eh?
My next post will be titled 'birthday greens' because I don't think there's still enough rationale to keep having the blues after spending this much time breathing. Now I only have to write it.
And to keep things in perspective, here's something "fun" to read on dell tech support.
